In 1994, a mandolin craftsman Shigeru Shimada formed a mandolin playing group with his music-relative friends. The ensemble was named "Electric Chair" jestingly.
Today, it's play style is known as so unique and different from the existing mandolin ensembles in Japan. About 12 player perform with mandolin, mandola, mandochello, mandolute, mandolone and guitar.

A composer Masahiko Naito prepares all of the original musics for the ensemble. The music sellection is so wide, from light-classics, blues to tango, and from contemporary to popular. Also, every pieces are well-matched for the characteristics of mandolin and guitar.
